New York City FC came from a brief equaliser to beat Chicago Fire 3-1 in an entertaining MLS encounter. The home side responded emphatically, scoring twice before the break to take control.
Agustin Ojeda put New York City FC back ahead in the 29th minute, assisted by Andrés Perea. Malachi Jones then made it 3-1 in the 41st minute, with Ojeda turning provider. Four yellow cards were shown in the second half — to Dje Tah D'Avilla, Nicolás Fernández, Joel Waterman and Puso Dithejane — but the scoreline remained unchanged.
Chicago Fire had 53% possession and created three big chances, but found New York City FC goalkeeper in fine form with four saves. The visitors also had five shots on target to the home side's three, yet could not find a way back.
