M. Kouame defeated R. Burruchaga 6-2, 6-2 at the Cancun Men Singles in straight sets. The result was built on relentless returning and sharp play in the big moments: Kouame converted four break points and saved the only break point he faced.
Kouame seized control of the opening set immediately, breaking in game one and again in game three to lead 3-0 before closing 6-2. He repeated the pattern in the second set, moving 2-1 ahead with a break in game three and extending to 4-1 with another break in game five. Burruchaga never found a way back, with his lone break chance in the match going unconverted.
The standout number was Kouame's return dominance: he won 26 return points to Burruchaga's 12 and took 50% of points against Burruchaga's first serve. Burruchaga, meanwhile, managed just 21% of first-serve return points against Kouame.
