Brancaccio beat Kolář 6-4, 6-4 at the ATP Challenger in Hagen, Germany. The key difference came in the big points: Brancaccio converted three of four break points and saved three of the four he faced, while Kolář managed one break from his four chances.
The first set was settled by a single break in the fifth game. In the second set Brancaccio broke in game five again, and another break in game seven made it a double break. Kolář broke straight back in game eight, but Brancaccio closed out the set, and the match, 6-4.
Brancaccio’s serve was the biggest separator in the numbers: nine aces to Kolář’s three, 70% first serves in, 41 service points won to 30, and a 64–52 edge in total points. His 75% break-point saving rate was just as important as his three breaks.
