The opener was the tightest set: Tien broke in game two, Borges answered immediately, and Tien closed it out with another break in game ten. In the second set Tien ran away, breaking in games four and six, and he finished the third with breaks in games three and seven.
The decisive edge came on serve: Tien won 8 of 12 points behind his second delivery and dropped serve only once, while Borges won just 7 of 19 second-serve points. Both players finished without a double fault.
