Benjamin Bonzi beat Hugo Dellien 7-5, 6-2 in Montreal, converting three break points and saving all three he faced. Bonzi's return game was decisive: he took 41% of Dellien's first-serve points and won 77 total points to 60.
After a tight opener in which Dellien saved six of seven break points, Bonzi broke at 6-5 in game 11 to take the set. He then broke in game 3 at 2-1 and again in game 7 at 5-2 to close out the second set.
Bonzi was never broken, winning all nine of his service games and firing five aces. Dellien, by contrast, dropped serve three times and won only seven of his ten service games.
