Karen Khachanov held every one of his 11 service games against Alexander Blockx at the US Open, taking the first two sets 6-2, 7-5 and leading 3-2 in the third. The difference was simple: three breaks converted to none, and 2/2 break points saved against Blockx's 1/4.
Khachanov broke twice in the opener, at 3-2 and again at 5-2, to close it out 6-2. The second set stayed on serve until he broke in the 11th game at 6-5 to take it 7-5, and he then broke again in the fifth game of the third at 3-2.
Blockx actually served more aces, 8 to 5, but he also hit four double faults to Khachanov's two and won only 13 of 26 second-serve points. Khachanov's return work was the standout number: 24 receiver points won to 14, including 13 of 26 on second-serve return.
