Kevon Lambert's brace earned Louisville City FC a 2-1 win over Birmingham Legion FC in the USL Championship. The hosts dominated possession and chances but only sealed victory with Lambert's second goal midway through the second half.
Lambert headed home Aiden McFadden's cross in the sixth minute to give Louisville an early lead. Birmingham equalised against the run of play before half-time, Samuel Shashoua finishing from Gevork Diarbian's assist. Lambert restored the lead in the 74th minute, turning in Taylor Davila's delivery.
Louisville controlled the match with 60% possession, six total shots and three on target, while Birmingham recorded no shots across the 90 minutes. The visitors' keeper made three saves to keep the score close, but Lambert's double proved decisive.
