Dresdner Eislöwen beat Bietigheim Steelers 3-2 in regulation, and they did all of it in the third period. Down two goals after 40 minutes, Dresden put up a three-goal final frame to flip the game without needing overtime.
Bietigheim scored once in the first and once in the second, building a 0-2 lead through two periods that looked comfortable on the scoreboard if not especially safe. The turning point was the intermission: Dresden's three unanswered goals in the third erased the deficit and produced the winner inside 60 minutes.
The number that defines it is the period split — 0-2 over the first two, 3-0 in the third. Bietigheim did not register a shot that found the net after the second intermission, and that was the margin.
