Barys Astana beat Sibir Novosibirsk 7-1 in regulation, the game decided in the second period when the home side scored five unanswered goals. The hosts led 1-0 after 20 minutes and stretched that advantage to 6-0 before the second intermission.
Vsevolod Logvin opened the scoring at the 13th minute, assisted by Semyon Simonov. In the second, Kayyrzhan Dinmukhamed, Justin Bailey, Simonov, Chase Priskie and Bailey again scored from the 25th through the 39th minutes to make it 6-0. Garrett Pilon added a goal in the 47th minute, and Sibir found its only reply in the 54th.
Justin Bailey led the way with two goals, while Logvin, Simonov, Dinmukhamed and Priskie each recorded a goal and an assist. Mason Morelli chipped in two assists for a Barys offense that scored seven times on the night.
