Barracas Central took the points with a 1-0 win at Deportivo Riestra, Gonzalo Maroni's goal in the 72nd minute separating the sides. It was a tight contest in which Barracas saw more of the ball, enjoying 60% possession, but they needed patience to break through.
The decisive moment arrived late when Tomás Porra set up Maroni to score the only goal of the game. Earlier, the match had been scrappy, with yellow cards for Nicolas Watson, Facundo Bruera, Rodrigo Insúa and Maroni himself, but the breakthrough came from a well-worked move.
Barracas created three big chances to Riestra's one and had the better expected-goals figure (1.15 to 0.63), yet they needed five saves from their goalkeeper to hold on, as Riestra mustered 12 shots and five on target. Maroni's finish proved the difference on an afternoon when the home side carried a threat but could not convert it.
