Valdmannova V. defeated Bandecchi S. 7-6, 6-4 in Warsaw, coming from a double break down in the opening set before taking control in straight sets. She saved two of five break points in the first set and won the only tiebreak of the match.
Bandecchi broke in games two and four to lead 0-4, but Valdmannova pulled one back in game five and then broke again at 4-5 and 6-5. Bandecchi responded with a break in game twelve to force the tiebreak, which Valdmannova took 7-6. In the second set, Bandecchi broke in game three, yet Valdmannova answered in game eight and then broke again in game ten to close out the match at 6-4.
Valdmannova finished with three aces to her opponent’s one and won 47 service points to Bandecchi’s 35, though the stats show a tight contest: both players converted four break points and the final point tally was 76-71.
