Bandecchi S. defeated Podrez V. 6-1, 6-4 in Warsaw, taking control through superior serving: she won 33 service points to 19 and saved three of five break points faced. The win was built on five breaks of Podrez's serve against two of her own.
Bandecchi broke in game two of the first set, briefly lost the lead before breaking again at 3-1 and 5-1 to close out 6-1. She then broke in the opening game of the second set, but Podrez levelled at 3-3 in game six. Bandecchi answered immediately with a break in game seven at 4-3 and held on to finish 6-4.
The standout number was second-serve points: Bandecchi won 10 of 18 (56%) while Podrez managed only four of 21 (19%). Bandecchi also hit five aces and won six straight games at one stage to seal a clean straight-sets win.
