Novorizontino beat Avaí 3-1 in Brasileiro Série B, taking control with three goals in a productive first half. Madson put them ahead in the ninth minute, and although Allyson levelled for Avaí, Robson and Romulo made it 3-1 before half-time.
Madson finished from Robson's pass to make it 1-0. Allyson responded for Avaí on 24 minutes after Jean Lucas's assist, but Robson restored Novorizontino's lead on 39 from Reidiney's set-up, and Jordi's assist allowed Romulo to add a third in the 45th minute. Douglas da Silva Teixeira, Patrick and Reidiney were shown yellow cards across the match.
The stats matched the result: Novorizontino had 12 shots to Avaí's six, created four big chances to one and posted an expected-goals figure of 2.20 against 0.42. They also shaded possession, 51 per cent to 49. Robson stood out, setting up the opener and scoring the go-ahead goal.
