Vitor Hugo opened the scoring in the 19th minute from Igor Gomes' assist. Tomás Cuello made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute after Renan Lodi's pass, then added his second and Atlético's third four minutes later to settle the contest.
Cuello was the match-winner, but Atlético's dominance went deeper: they out-shot Grêmio 15-9 and had five shots on target to one. Possession was close at 51-49, yet Atlético were far sharper in the final third.
