Tigres UANL beat Atlante 2-0 in the Primera Division Apertura after a tight contest turned on a sending-off. Luis Calzadilla was shown a second yellow card in the 36th minute, and the hosts used the extra man to settle it late.
The deadlock was broken in the 79th minute when Rodrigo Aguirre finished from Juan Brunetta's assist. Brunetta then made sure of the win in the 90th minute, scoring from Isac Galván's delivery to make it 2-0. Atlante kept the game level until that late opener despite having to defend for more than half the match with ten men.
Tigres dominated possession with 67% and had 17 shots to Atlante's 11, but the expected goals were nearly level at 1.13 to 1.12. Both sides had four shots on target, and Atlante missed their one big chance while Tigres scored theirs, so the red card and Tigres' late finishing proved decisive.
