Charlotte FC left Atlanta with a 2-0 win in MLS, taking control with a goal in the 22nd minute and another just after the break. Idan Gurno opened the scoring and Liel Abada made sure of the points, with the visitors keeping a clean sheet.
Gurno put Charlotte ahead on 22 minutes, converting after Pep Biel's assist. Abada doubled the lead in the 48th minute, this time Allan Saint-Maximin the provider. Djibril Diani was booked on 45 minutes and Adrian Gill saw yellow in the 85th.
The underlying numbers were lopsided in Charlotte's favour: they had 62% possession and 40 accurate passes to Atlanta's 24. But the box score also records no shots for either side, so the match was settled by two goals rather than sustained pressure.
