Charlotte FC threw away a two-goal half-time lead as Atlanta United fought back to earn a 2-2 draw in the MLS. Goals from Kerwin Calderón Vargas and Liel Abada had the hosts in control, but a spirited second-half response from Atlanta, capped by Miguel Almirón's equaliser, saw the spoils shared.
Calderón Vargas opened the scoring in the 16th minute, and Abada doubled Charlotte's lead just before the break with an assist from Pep Biel. Atlanta pulled one back in the 57th minute through Elías Baez, set up by Tomás Jacob, before Almirón levelled matters in the 76th minute to complete the comeback.
Charlotte dominated the stats, with 23 total shots to Atlanta's 12 and an expected goals figure of 2.67 against 1.63, yet could not hold on. The visitors' efficiency in front of goal, scoring twice from six shots on target, earned them a point.
