Robson doubled the lead in the 59th, Matheus Bianqui made it 3-0 in the 77th, and after Wilinton Aponzá pulled one back for Athletic in the 81st, Luís Oyama completed the scoring in the 90th. Diogo Batista de Souza was sent off at the end of the first half after receiving a second yellow card.
The numbers underlined Novorizontino's dominance: they had 54% possession, 16 shots and seven on target, while Athletic managed 10 shots but only one on target. Athletic's goalkeeper made four saves, but Novorizontino's had none to make, and the visitors also finished with the higher expected-goals figure (2.53 to 1.51).
