The scoreline flattered Athletic in terms of territory: they had just 38% possession and 10 shots to Atlético's 15, yet scored with all three of their efforts on target. Atlético had five shots on target themselves but Athletic's goalkeeper made five saves, and Athletic created the two big chances of the match to make the win arguably more clinical than dominant.
