Astana snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory over FK Aktobe in the Premier League, thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Stanislav Basmanov. The home side had to come from behind after Aktobe turned the match around in the second half.
Dmitriy Shomko opened the scoring for Astana in the 12th minute, but Giorgi Zaria levelled just before half-time. Aktobe then took the lead through Artur Shushenachev in the 55th minute, before Basmanov struck in the 90th minute to complete the comeback and seal all three points.
The key moment was Basmanov’s late intervention, which handed Astana a win they had looked unlikely to secure after falling behind. Two yellow cards – for Bagdat Kairov early on and Nani late in the game – were the only other disciplinary actions in a tight contest.
