The first set stayed level until Almazan Valiente broke in the seventh game at 4-3, then broke again in the ninth to close it out 6-3. He carried that momentum straight into the second, breaking in game two for 2-0 and again in game four for 4-0, a run that stretched to nine games in a row.
The decisive number was Covato's second serve: he won just 4 of 14 points behind it, including 0 of 2 in the second set, while Almazan Valiente took 10 of 14 second-serve return points. Overall the winner claimed 58 points to 39.
