Ivan Toney opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Eduard Spertsyan doubled the lead on 43 after Saad Yaslam Balobaid's assist, and Francisco Trincão made it 3-0 before half-time with Balobaid again the creator. Toney added his second of the night in the 61st minute, and Naif Masoud rounded things off with an 87th-minute goal from Firas Al-Buraikan's pass.
No one featured more prominently than Toney, whose brace took the game away from Al Riyadh. The statistics underlined Al-Ahli's control: 56% possession, 16 shots and eight on target, with an expected-goals figure of 3.31 to the visitors' 0.64.
