Ajax recovered from 2-1 down to beat FC Sion 5-3 in the Europa Conference League playoff round. Winsley Boteli twice put the visitors in front, but Ajax scored four unanswered goals in 15 minutes around half-time to take control.
Youri Baas gave Ajax a first-minute lead, only for Boteli to equalise on 18 and put Sion ahead on 36. Davy Klaassen levelled on 39, Tolu Arokodare added goals on 45 and 51, and Oliver Valaker Edvardsen made it 5-2 on 54. Boteli completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute, with Noé Sow and Numa Lavanchy booked in between.
Ajax dominated the shot count, firing 23 attempts to Sion's 11 and putting 13 on target, while holding 54% possession. Sion's goalkeeper made seven saves to keep the score closer, and Boteli's treble showed the threat the visitors carried throughout.
