Admiral Vladivostok handled Severstal Cherepovets 2-0 in regulation, and the shutout did most of the talking. One goal in the second period, one in the last minute of the third, and nothing at all from Severstal across 60 minutes.
The opening period ended 0-0 with neither side solving the other's structure. Ivan Yanchenko broke it at 37 minutes, finishing off a feed from Oskar Bulavchuk for 1-0, and that stood as the turning point through the rest of the middle frame. Admiral added a second at the 60th minute to close it out at 2-0.
The number that matters is zero: Severstal never got on the board. Yanchenko's goal was the only one credited to a scorer in the game, with Bulavchuk drawing the lone assist.
